After a hectic autumn the seminar program for 2015 is running as planned.


Applicants and attendees will be welcomed in Iceland in the spring for fantastic outdoor, and experiential seminars.

Cursus Iceland has published the seminar schedule for seminars starting 1 July 2014 until the 30th of June 2015.

The first seminar of 2013.


A group of 10 European teachers finished The Seminar on outdoor education, landscape qualities and outdoor education facilities on Saturday the 23rd of March.


It was a cold week, but all warm at heart.


The group completed the program with pure excellency and engage in the outdoor experience with motivation and joy.


We at Cursus Iceland want to thank the participants for their effort and team spirit, despite the cold days and challenges we faced the seminar was a success.

Best example of "Practice of excellence" in 2011.

Another great recognition for Cursus Iceland from the Slovenian national agency. 


The Slovenian national agency has chosen the seminar on outdoor education, landscape qualities and outdoor education facilities as the example of "practice of excellence" for  Comenius in-service training in 2011.


Some of the remarks made by the Slovenian particapant regarding the seminar and its organisation are: 


"The content of the seminar have been planned and implemented perfectly. The organizers of the seminar are much more invested in it, as dictated by professionally conducted a seminar. I have attended various seminars, conferences, teacher exchanges ... so that on the basis of a plethora of accumulated experience only nothing but praise for the entire organization, application and implementation of Lifelong Learning Programme Comenius seminar that I attended."

Application deadline for round 3 in the Comenius programme is 30th of April 2013.


Cursus Iceland is organizing 3 sessions of the seminar on outdoor education, landscape qualities and outdoor education facilities in Septmber and October 2013. 


One session of Outdoor arts and crafts is planned in late Sept.  Application deadline for these sessions is on the 30th of April 2013. Cursus Iceland is already accepting applicants for the seminars in the period.

Cursus Iceland was recently awarded "the highest quality Comenius qualification development activity, 2011" by the Lithuanian national agency


This recognition was given for the seminar on outdoor education, landscape qualities and outdoor education facilities.

Duration:

The duration of the seminar is 5 days, with a short closing session on day nr. 6.

The seminar starts at 09:00 monday morning.


Location:

The seminar location is in the center of Reykjavik, with access to several great outdoor areas in the nearby surroundings.


Content:

The seminar consists of lectures, workshops, field trips, observations, hands-on learning, discussions, tasks and physical activities, and as well social activities and exchange. All build op to make a maximal gain for the participants.


Each day of the seminar is devided in two parts, morning session and afternoon session. Furthermore will each day be dedicated to a certain topic or field.


The morning session will consist of indoors lectures, tasks and discussions with overview of theories, best practices, examples of outdoor education and its field.


The afternoon session will consist of outdoor workshops, hands-on learning, observations and activities, where we will try and experience the learning gained from the morning session, creating a comprehensive understanding and ability to achieve the tools and means provided.
